SOS: Save Our Spirited!

This is not the time for a quiet riot – this is a call to action!
Spiritualists (Spirited Fans),
We are asking you, the devoted viewers of Spirited, to join our campaign to bring the show back to our screens.
Why here? Simply because to sign you do not need to be a member of any particular social network service which means more signatures in one location; additionally we possess the ability to have your comments seen by those who need to see them!
You can help by adding your name and message of support below; be passionate, but please refrain from abuse. Once you’ve done that, spread the word – using this link: http://SOS.Spirited-TV.net
Tweet it, post a link on Facebook, email our link, shout it from the rooftops, skywrite it etc. In Spirited’s short life we have witnessed this fandom grow from a small group to a substantial community, and that’s just online. Call upon friends, colleagues and family members now to raise their voices in support of Spirited’s return. If they’re not tech savvy, help them!
The aim is to get as many names as possible and use these online comments/signatures as a collective call from the fans that have supported the show from the beginning. This will then be sent through the appropriate channels.

Dear FOXTEL,
A letter from we, the undersigned.
When the first episode of Spirited debuted on FOXTEL’S W Channel, August 25, 2010, subscription TV viewers were amazed, intrigued and rather relieved. Here, at last, was an Australian series that hit every note and ticked all the boxes on their wish lists. Viewers displayed their passion for the series by making Spirited the highest rating show on W Channel in 2010.
As we got to know the ensemble cast through their outstanding performances, we took each of them in as members of our own families. We voted in droves and watched with pride as the cast and crew earned numerous industry accolades; the most recent of which include Spirited being named 2011′s Most Outstanding Drama on Subscription TV and lead Matt King rightfully received Best Performance By An Actor.
It is with disbelief that the writing team have not had faith bestowed upon them to harness the direction of a third season, when they have not only delivered awards, but have also provided some of the most innovative, funny and heart-warming moments in Australian television history to date.
FOXTEL; as a new show Spirited was only just beginning to develop a really strong online community and season three was set to see its biggest growth yet. A strong, funny & vocal army of ‘super fans’; whose presence was acknowledged as valuable by series creator Jacquelin Perske. From those on the fandom inside we can tell you the bud has hastily been snipped well before the flower bloomed. This show was just gaining follower momentum.
Given the award winning ratings, acting, writing and strengthening fanbase it is with great shock that we received news on October 14, 2011, that Spirited was not being renewed for a third season. This information came via a “press release” from FOXTEL’S Executive Director of Television, Brian Walsh.
Just as we hold the power to bolster ratings, we also have the power to switch off and unsubscribe from FOXTEL if our programming needs are not being met. Many of us only remain subscribers for this specific show.
Our beloved series needs to be given the respect it deserves. Spirited’s appeal and impact on its audiences cannot be ignored; the creativity found on this site alone shows but a small example. A show as special as this, with writing and performances that can evoke such passionate responses across the globe, should not be thrown away with a premature ending. There are still quality stories to be told. The tale of Suzy Darling and Henry Mallet is far from finished. The show has not run its course. The decision not to renew Spirited has left a plethora of viewers, like Henry, standing outside pressed against the glass.
It is therefore with our united voice that we call for a renewal of Spirited!
“Some things are meant to be, no matter what the risk.”
Sincerely,
The undersigned.
