Spirited Season 2 DVD

by Spiritualist

Spirited Season 2 DVD Cover

Amongst everything that’s happening in the Spirited realm a question burning in the back of all our minds has been, “Where is the Season Two DVD?”. Some were concerned that, given the delay, it was simply not going to eventuate. Rest assured Spiritualists, the Season 2 DVD set of Spirited is on its way!

Get your iPhone or, if you’re old school, a pen and paper and mark Wednesday, February 8th, 2012 on your calendars! This is substantially earlier than the Season 1 DVD release in April of this year.

We currently have limited information about the contents, but expect it to closely mirror the Season 1 release. A standard region 4, PAL DVD set featuring all 10 episodes from season two on 3 discs.

It is currently available to pre-order in Australia from:
- Sanity
- JB Hi-Fi
- EzyDVD

Details such as artwork and release date may still be subject to change.

It would be nice if there were some special features popped in for good measure.

Does anyone know if Season 1 or 2 will ever be available for those outside of Australia? I’d love to get my hands on it…

Sorry, Tarryn, I doubt it will be happening any time soon. However you can still purchase the AUS DVDs and import them overseas…just beware of the different regions.

I definitely recommend getting yourself a cheap region free DVD player or downloading this GREAT free video player software for your computer (VLC): http://www.videolan.org/
I use it, and it plays all regions, the site has an FAQ with more info on that though.

I was also thinking of just importing them but worried about the region. I don’t really want to buy a new dvd player.
Doesn’t the region code also depend on the dvd drive itself, not only on the player?
I’ve got VLC ob my laptop, but unfortunately no not-my-region-DVD to test it.

To be honest, I’m not sure. I’m just thankful that a lot of my players here seem to cope with the OS DVDs that I’ve bought. I know I can’t play them through Windows Media Player without it coming up with a region prompt, but I could via VLC…however my laptop DVD drive is buggered so I can’t play much of anything now to even re-confirm this. I was also reading that even VLC doesn’t work in all cases.

…you could always buy a crappy $1 DVD from ebay in another region and test it out that way…

Hope you guys can work something out, I love that you want to legally support this show.

Good news about the S2 DVD release date. Can’t wait. Meanwhile, here’s hoping negotiations with Showcase go well and S3 will start production next year. Anyone who thinks there is not enough imaginative energy left in the tank for a third season, think again. Even a 2-dimensional show like “I Dream of Genie” went for 5 seasons. All the characters in Spirited are fascinating, complex, funny. Plenty of scope to explore IMO.

Okay, my analysis as at 23.12.11

The best bet is actually probably JB-HiFi, though they’re $34.98 they do free shipping and the release date is Feb 8th. Their shipping hasn’t been brilliantly fast for me, but they’re usually good for store walk ins and purchases the day of or even before.

Sanity is $29.99 but postage is $4.95 and they list the release date as Feb 9th. So if the date is of no concern, they’re certainly an option…I’ve had no online experience with them. But I have been told by staff in the past that their prices online are not the same as those in store, so they’re not good for browsing online then doing a store walk in.

EzyDvD most expensive product and shipping, but got in early by listing their pre-order almost four weeks ago, so points to them for that.

    Hi,

I pre-ordered the season 2 DVD (Ezydvd). So I can watch it at my Dutch TV screen in February, can’t wait!

    Kind regards,

    Diana

I have just placed my pre-order with JB HiFi – I find them very reliable and keep you in the loop if there is a delay (as there was with my Spirited Season 1). Thanks for all the info you keep supplying guys. No doubt you will keep us informed of negotiations with Showcase?? Merry Christmas to all Spiritualists and fingers crossed for an exceptionally happy 2012 with season 3!! :)

    UPDATE: 09.01.2011

Perhaps in response to our discussion above, Sanity have thrown in FREE shipping to sweeten their deal of $29.99 for 9th Feb release. That makes it $10 per disc, pretty great!

LOVEEE this show!!! I hope it returns. Brilliant – so many levels – esp compared to everything that’s out there. Do you think they will consider another season?
