It’s with a heavy heart that I have to tell you that Spirited 3 isn’t going to happen.

On behalf of Claudia, myself and all the writers, actors, directors and whole team I want to say a huge thank you to all the wonderful fans of Spirited. Your devotion and passion for the show has been one of the true delights of the Spirited journey. Thank you for coming on the ride with us.

From the bottom of our heart Spirited-TV.net wishes to thank Jacquelin and Claudia for bringing a story in to our lives that we will always carry with us.

I cannot speak highly enough of everyone involved in the production of Spirited. Spirited helped put the highest calibre of craftsmanship on display for Australian (and international) audiences. It really did show how good our television industry is and can be. To Jacquelin and Claudia – continue to tell your stories, continue to fight when you’re told things cannot be done and continue to be your brilliant selves!

With such impeccable writing, direction and performances, one struggles to find words to offer the highest praise that those involved deserve. In addition to Jacquelin, Claudia & John; a special thanks to Matt, Jessica, Angus, Anna and Dave – know that the world is thought of you and your talent. To the rest of the cast and crew (we’d list you all if we could!), thank you for all your amazing work. No doubt you will all have a legion of Spirited fans eager to see your next new creations.

While I am sure we are all sad to see the show finally end, let’s be glad for what we were given; two wonderful seasons. Gone but not forgotten, Spirited is a show that will live on in the hearts and minds of many for years and years to come. Here’s hoping any future incarnations will give Henry and Suzy the respect they deserve.

Despite the news, please know that there are no current plans to close Spirited-TV.net and we’d still love to see your latest fan art, videos and so on.

While you have the opportunity, though there may be anger please put that aside and, be sure to let the cast and crew know just how much their work means to us all and leave your glowing words of appreciation in the comments below.

Finally, Voting for the ASTRA Awards begins on May 1st, let’s send Spirited off with an award filled farewell!!

On May 2nd seasons 1 and 2 of Spirited will be released in a new box set format on DVD. The set consists of 5 discs with all 18 episodes of this great Australian comedy/drama starring Claudia Karvan and Matt King.

The Australian Subscription Television and Radio Association (ASTRA) has announced the finalists for the 10th Annual ASTRA Awards. The pool consists of a massive 95 entries across 21 categories and has a section in which subscribers are able to vote for their favourites.

You may recall that last year Spirited took out Most Outstanding Drama and Matt King came away with Most Outstanding Performance By An Actor (Male). Matt was unable to attend the awards but Claudia accepted on his behalf and read, “I’m so sorry, but I can’t be there, but I live in another realm where people like me don’t win awards”.

This year Spirited is once again a finalist for Most Outstanding Drama, their competition in this field is Killing Time and Cloudstreet.

Unfortunately Matt will not have the opportunity to defend his title, however congratulations to Claudia Karvan who, after her amazing efforts in season 2, is once again a finalist in the category of Most Outstanding Performance by an Actor (Female).

The big news for fans is that Spirited Season 2 features in the Subscribers’ Choice category of Favourite Program – Australian, which means we can use our voting power! Voting for the Subscribers’ Choice categories will run from May 1st to 31st you’ll have a variety of different avenues available for voting including via astraawards.com, via SMS, at Channel 333 on FOXTEL or AUSTAR, and for the first time this year, through the ASTRA Awards Facebook page.

None of this free to air Logies stuff, Spirited took out Most Outstanding Drama and Best Actor last year at the ASTRA Awards – this is our PayTV turf! Let’s give the cast and crew a memorable farewell present and win the fan vote in 2012 to let them know how much we love the show. Encourage others to vote or help by voting on their behalf (must use their details to be counted).

You can vote daily via both ASTRA Awards Facebook page and the ASTRA Awards website that’s 2 votes per day…make it a part of your daily routine!

You can SMS as many times as you want, but it does cost 0.55c per text (SMS Voting codes).

You can enter a maximum of 10 times through using your Foxtel/Austar remote, this is the cost of a local call, so if possible vote ten times!

Season 1 & 2 DVD Box Set

Season 1 & 2 of Spirited will be released as a DVD Box Set on May 2nd, 2012.

Disc count is listed as 5, which reflects two discs from season 1 and three discs from season 2. This type of collective re-packaging happens for most shows after each new season is completed. Unfortunately it tends to mean that no new material, other than cover art, will be added.

Time to wind back those clocks and re-live all of our favourite moments from this groundbreaking Australian television series. Season two introduced us to a host of new, wonderfully diverse characters and talented Australian performers. It also came to our screens with the tantalizing tag line, “some rules were meant to be broken,” and broken they were! A live one and a ghost in love, possession, spiriting, imposters… all while trying to maintain some semblance of a ‘normal’ life!

If you weren’t already head over heels in love with this show, the writing, acting & over all aesthetics after season one, season two more than likely gave you that extra shove into television bliss. For those who do not subscribe to cable television and who have waited patiently for this DVD, you’re in for a roller coaster of emotions. Happy viewing!

Rick Kalowski (nominated for At Home with Julia) will be chatting with a panel of fellow Australian Writers Guild members nominated for 2012 AACTA Awards.

Attending film and television nominees include Judy Morris (Eye of the Storm), Alice Addison (The Hunter), Leon Ford (Griff the Invisible), Jacquelin Perske (Spirited), Kris Wyld (East West 101) and Victoria Wharfe McIntyre (The Telegram Man). Also joining the panel will be U.S. writer Ellen Fontana (Cloudstreet).

The panel will share their experiences of these productions, and there’ll be plenty of audience Q&A.
